The standard Indian bale is 400-lb. gross (392-lb. net), in Madras, 500-lb. bales are common. The limits of weight allowed in Bombay are: - Cambadia, Tinnevelly, and Karunganni, 340 min., 530 max. All other cotton, 340 min., 450 max. If delivered against forward contracts, the weight of 100 bales must be within the following limits: - Cambodia, Tinnevelly, and Karunganni, 49 candies min. (784-lb.), 64 candies max. Saw-ginned, Dharwar and Machine-ginned Kumpta, 46 candies min., 51 candies max. All others, 49 candies min., 51 candies max. Differences outside this range are at the buyer's option. The dimensions vary considerably, but the average Indian bale of 400-lb gross is about 48-in. X 20-in. X 16-in. 3 Bale Breakers
This is a machine used for breaking and opening the cotton direct from the bale, the cotton is also cleaned. Blending or mixing is carried on. The hopper type is generally used as it gives a better blending and has greater facilities for the dirt, leaf, etc. to fall away. -
